Why dental implants

Why an implant? When a dental crown is damaged by caries, injury, etc., the lost tissue is usually replaced with a filling or, in the case of more extensive defects, with a ceramic replacement or entire ceramic crown.

But how can a dental crown be replaced if the dental root has also been lost? Modern stomatology offers a solution – replacement of the lost root with a dental implant. Implantology is a progressive stomatological discipline which, thanks to the ever improving technology and constantly developing surgical procedures, provides a functionally and aesthetically better solution than the „standard” forms of treatment.

It gradually becomes a preferred form of treatment virtually for all treatment indications of incomplete denture from one missing tooth to a toothless jaw. Nowadays it holds true that only an implant allows for replacement of a lost tooth or teeth without damaging the adjacent teeth as a result of the necessary preparation for a fixed bridge. Implants have a critical importance in situations when the only other option is the making of a removable prosthesis. Therefore, thanks to implants, a lot of patients are able to enjoy, even in the case of an extensive tooth loss, the comfort of fixed dental prosthesis functionally equivalent to their own teeth. Where a removable prosthesis is a must, implants are capable of considerably improving prosthetic stability, which in a number of individuals eliminates the problem of a loose removable prosthesis, which is difficult to solve.
